Darwin: Change over time

University of Illinois graduate student Mike Rosulek created a this series of Shepard Fairey Obama poster parodies.
Mike is selling t-shirts & posters on Zazzle featuring the Darwin images and he’s donating all the proceeds to the National Center for Science Education (NCSE).

I'm getting all warm and fuzzy
The anticipation for the new GD album is KILLING ME! Rolling Stone just wrote an article that has me dancing around the kitchen. I can't wait to see this creation this summer on tour....Oh release a song, will you! Then again, if it's green day style, they'll have to be very creative with the editing and that's usually a nightmare. Go HERE to read the article.

Don't buy Dole Pineapple!
So I'm reading a promo flyer sent to food industry professionals, and I find this little blurb:
"May 10- Mother's Day, the Biggest Restaurant Day of the Year. Cash in on everybody's favorite person."
Cash in? Cash in? F-U! from this moment on, I will never buy Dole pineapple, and let everyone I know their stance that mom's shouldn't be celebrated but used.

The Ice Champion...the video!
Allison had her first Figure Skating competition today. She competed in Pre Alpha solo and Pre Alpha Compulsories. We were very nervous, because we just spent a week at the beach, but she was very well prepared and took First Place in both events!!!
Here's a very rough version of the event, with the professional copy to come in a few weeks. Enjoy!

Patrick McGoohan 1929 -2009

Who are you?
I am number 2, you are number 6.
I am not a number... I am a free man! (cue giant balloon to chase him through the lifesize chess board)
What a sad day. Patrick, you did indeed leave The Village.

Please help the kids that really need it!
There is a bill (Senate Bill 101- Habilitative Therapy Services)before the Senate that will really help children with disabilities. They can't write the letters, but you can! Please take a minute, follow the link to find your representatives and send the following letter. Thank you very very much!!
CONTACTING CONGRESS
Dear State Senator ___________________________________________
I am writing to request your support for the amended version of SB 101. The proposed legislation would provide insurance coverage for children up to 19 yers of age who are in need of habilitative services, including physical, occupational and speech and language therapies. This legislation is needed since some insurance companies deny therapy coverage or limit the number of sessions for children solely based on their diagnosis of developmental disability. The children that would be covered by the proposed legislation include children with a congenital, genetic or early acquired disorder.
As you know, the impact of therapy services for young children is significant. The earlier we support children and their families the better the outcomes in the future. I would greatly appreciate your support of Senate Bill 101.
Sincerely,
add your name and zip code here

Great editorial for upcoming Green Day album

Great Editorial Property of GreenDayAuthority.com and very worth sharing. I'm just thrilled to see another woman my age feeling the same silliness and anticipation for the new release.

Ran into an old friend on cyberspace
and it seems like yesterday! Except we're both married with kids and our lives are entirely different! Sometimes people in your past are not in your future for a reason, sometimes they get back in it at just the right time. So glad you found me again Carrie!

Peter Fox and the musical monkeys
This has been my favorite video of the year 2008. Until recently (this morning) I had no idea what he was saying, but you gotta love the intensity he says it with! Here is the original version and one with subtitles if you insist on knowing what he's saying...personally I was happier not knowing, but it's a great watch!

I have a girl crush...
...not really, but I do adore Pink, especially this song. Reminds me of College.
I don't wanna be the girl who laughs the loudest
Or the girl who never wants to be alone
I don't wanna be that call at 4 o'clock in the morning
'Cos I'm the only one you know in the world that won't be home
Aahh the sun is blinding
I stayed up again
Oohh, I am finding
That's not the way I want my story to end
I'm safe
Up high
Nothing can touch me
But why do I feel this party's over?
No pain
Inside
You're like protection
But how do I feel this good sober?
I don't wanna be the girl who has to fill the silence
The quiet scares me cause it screams the truth
Please don't tell me that we had that conversation
I won't remember, save your breath, 'cos what's the use?
Aahh, the night is calling?
And it whispers to me softly come and play
But I, I am falling
And If I let myself go I'm the only one to blame
I'm safe
Up high
Nothing can touch me
But why do I feel this party's over?
No pain
Inside
You're like perfection
But how do I feel this good sober?
I'm coming down, coming down, coming down
Spinning 'round, spinning 'round, spinning 'round
Looking for myself - SOBER (x2)
When it's good, then it's good, it's so good till it goes bad
Till you're trying to find the you that you once had
I have heard myself cry, never again
Broken down in agony just tryna find a fit
Ooo Oooo
I'm safe
Up high
Nothing can touch me
But why do I feel this party's over?

OOooo OOoo
No Pain

How do I feel this good sober?
Will I ever feel this good sober?
Tell me, No no no no no pain

Billie's at it again..
Here's a recent quote from the gentleman, and yet another reason I really like him!
"You've got one chance to live life, and you work your fucking ass off, and you try to just go for it; there's no time to worry about shit you don't need to worry about. If you just sit there, you'll be chasing your tail for the rest of your life, and fuck that."
Snagged from an interview with Alternative Press

How does this guy know what it feels like to be inside my head at 1 am?
Bean to the White house!!!
This post was taken 100% from A place to Bark and Meow Please help little Bean get to Washington!!!"The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams"
-Eleanor Roosevelt
"IT'S TIME FOR CHANGE-
IT'S TIME TO PUT A SHELTER DOG IN THE WHITE HOUSE!!"
Yes, I am being silly, but hey why not!!!
Life is about having fun & doing positive things..
That's what we try to do here everyday:)
Barack Obama promised in his presidential acceptance speech to get his daughters a puppy and this is where our story begins...
A few weeks ago, I had an opportunity to send my 2 puppies, to participate in the search for the Obama puppy on television. This was via Anti Cruelty Society in Chicago.
I love them and have a wonderful working relationship with them.
Unfortunately I was on the road, away from home, it was last minute & I couldn't get back on time, to get my dogs there. I was disappointed, but am a firm believer that if things are meant to be they happen.
With that being said, I am creating my own opportunity & am putting our rescued puppy out in this public forum for their consideration. My hope is that the Obama family will see this post via the web.
I've tried to find contact info, where I could send them a private note, but with no luck.
Sooo, I have to believe someone, will know someone, will know someone & let them know!!!
Based on the credentials needed to be the Obama puppy, we nominate:
"Bean" to be the First Dog of the United States of America.
To our President-Elect Obama, Mrs. Obama & most of all Malia & Sasha, I respectfully present to you...
Our sweet rescued Schnauzer "Bean". She is a 12-14 week old purebred puppy.
She was rescued with her 2 other sisters and 7 other adult Schnauzers.
Wonderful calm personality, loving, snuggley, sweet & non shedding.
Her color is black, but will most probably change with time to Silver.
We named her "Bean" because when you look at her she looks like a little jellybean.
Round, wiggly, gentle & full of kisses. Follows you everywhere you go.
I believe she meets all the criteria you are looking for: she is hypoallergenic & a rescued dog.
Here are just a few pictures, it is very difficult to photograph a black dog.
The pictures don't do her justice, she is much cuter in person!!!
Her hair is long now & she will be going in for her first haircut this week.
As the President-Elect said: "A lot of shelter dogs are mutts, like me".
"So whether we're going to be able to balance those two things, I think, is a pressing issue on the Obama household."
As fate would have it, "A Place To Bark" has the dog they are looking for.
Now we just have to somehow get the Obama family to notice!!
"Bean" does have an approved home already, but they have agreed to allow me offer her to the Obama family.
The adoptive family believes a positive example is important & they would adopt another dog if the opportunity was available for Bean to go to the White House.
We are willing to potty train and hold her until the President-Elect Obama & his family are settled in the White House.
I could hand deliver her when after they settle into the White House and visit with Claudine since she lives in D.C.
So as with all things in my life, I believe creating your own opportunities is key...
Dreaming, believing, working hard towards a goal, envisioning it & making it real, that is what life is about!! I know it's a long shot, but I believe in miracles:)
You ask why us?? Why not one of our dogs!!!
It's all about making the dream real & I think this upcoming year is going to be all about making lots of dreams real!!!
Adeline Street clothing closes it's doors
It's a sad day for my closet. Apparantly the band is very busy working on the upcoming album... oh I can't wait, I can't wait.... and Adrienne has opened Atomic Garden in Oakland , so the clothing portion of the Adeline biz is waving goodbye... Steady Clothing still has some of their pieces, but get 'em while you can, because they are going, going gone...I'm so going to miss my favorite skully!
When life closes a door...
...you start a website!
Well, this is a full circle moment for me. So unhappy about losing my favorite place on the internet, a friend of mine contacted me and we made our own. Thinking we could host our swaps there, we would get a handful of friends to join us. Well, it's been 5 days and we have over 100 members, over 250 topics and over 3500 posts! I know, I know!?! One member created the banner for us (thank you Marianne)by digital collaging images from the first posts to our gallery, and another named us PAOists.
We have Scrapbooking, card making, altered arts of all kinds, a ton of swaps already in all catagories. There are a few online challenges to get you motivated if you're stuck, and a gallery filling up with great work from great people! We have a place for you to list your blog or the site of someone who inspires you and already there is talk of getting together for a PAO-WOW. The members have even started to inspire each other in a weight loss challenge! I couldn't ask for a better group of awesome, creative people!
If you want to come play with us paperartistsonline is where we hang out. Obviously it's very new, and we're still working out kinks as they come up, but so far wow! The energy there is buzzzzzin'. At this time of year, when we stop and think of the things we are thankful for, I am unbelievably thankful for my friends!

Friends...
Shhhhhhhhh
I need a day of rest.
Please don't email me.

I need to decompress and today is my day!
No stamps,

Please, leave me in peace today.
You will be fine without me
I promise!!!

a new hope
I can honestly say I'm going to bed tonight, with a genuine feeling of hope. Since 9-11, I have been afraid. Really, honestly, genuinely afraid. I have felt disjointed from my government. I did not feel safer. I was inundated with fear. At this moment, I have a pre-911 feeling of hope. A feeling that things are going to be right in the world, if only until I wake up tomorrow morning.Growing up, I was considered Generation-X. We were made fun of, laughed at, never taken seriously. Equality for all was always important to us. Although many of our parents were influenced by racism, we refused to tolerate it. Tonight, I finally feel our government is going to work for us. All of us. For Generation X and beyond.
Tonight we have captured the eyes of the world. Everyone within earshot of a television or a radio across the globe knows the US is headed in another direction. I can only hope the dictators wait and see. The radicals take a moment to pause. The wars take a moment for peace. I pray that Obama chooses the right people to fill the important cabinet positions that will soon be vacant. I hope he selects people from both sides of the aisle, and includes the fiercely independent.
Tomorrow the sun will rise, and with it I believe a new hope for a smarter, safer planet!
